Custom Grade Options

Now you are really stepping up into the big time! We offer more wood selections, a few new routing options, more inlay and binding options, plus we automatically upgrade all top, neck, and fingerboard woods to AAAA MINIMUM, and only the body backs keep the AAA minimum rating.

Paint Options

We also do not paint our bodies in the Custom Grade,(except on burst finishes where the backs are painted black or a corresponding or matching color), so as a result, at this level there is absolutely no , Agathis, Basswood, or Poplar, PERIOD!!

Wood Options

As for your wood selections, in the Custom Grade, you can choose any of the of the woods that are listed for their specific uses, meaning you can use any body woods for the body, any top woods for the top, any neck woods for the neck, and any fingerboard woods for the fingerboard. In otherwords, we offer complete access to all the exotic and tone woods available to us at the Custom and Supreme Grades. Keep in mind that some woods sre rare and can be difficult to acquire from time to time depending on the global market, and so sometimes our suppliers run short or temporarily out of stock. That being said, check with us first to verify that the woods you want are readily available prior to ordering.

Body Binding

As for body binding, you can still have your selections available in the lower grades (single ply in white, black, cream, black pearl, white pearl, natural, or hardwoods previously listed), plus now you can have your body bound in Abalone, silver shell, any natural wood we list for bodies, tops, necks, or fretboards, and in the Custom Grade, we can also bind your body (top only) in copper or brass.

Routing Options

As for routing changes, in this grade the AX-1 goes from being top routed (necessitating the use of a pick guard) to being either top or rear routed. Rear routing eliminates the need of a pickguard, but requires control cavity, and a battery box for the active pickup system. There is no difference in cost for opting for rear routing. Also, at this level, the Floyd Rose Tremolo on the AX-1, Merlin, BattleAX, and Modred is a standard option, meaning if you choose the Floyd Rose, there is no additional cost for the extra routing and fitting required.

Neck Options

Gone are the simple dot type fretboard markers, period. You can still choose from diamonds, stars, ovals, and shark fins, plus you can select trapezoid inlays or block inlays in black pearl, white pearl, mother of pearl, or abalone.

Neck binding is available in all the previously listed grades plus is available in mother of pearl, abalone, copper, brass, or your choice of wood.

All headstocks are laminated with either Ebony, or wood veneer to match the top of your body. Unless your headstock is to be laminated in ebony, the veneer will be dyed/stained,or cleared to match as well. All headstocks are bound to match the neck. Ergo, if your neck is bound in mother of pearl, your headstock will be as well.

Silverwork

All Custom Grade instruments come with an engraved sterling silver truss rod cover. No other truss rod covers are available for Custom Grade instruments. Additionally, all Custom Grade instruments come with an inlaid sterling silver plate in the back of the instrument with the owner's name, model name, serial number, and date of manufacture engraved on it. Finally, the 12th fret marker on all AxCalibur Industries Custom Grade instruments is sterling silver with the model name engraved.

Case Options

In addition to having the instrument supplied with the standard Gator brand ATA hardshell case, you can opt to upgrade to a custom made and fitted hardwood case that is show quality using only the finest hardwoods (usually the same as the instrument itself, for example if your instrument is walnut and maple, the case will be as well unless you specify otherwise. ), fittings, hardware, and fitting/lining materials. Each custom built case includes at no additional charge a built in Boss TU-15 electronic tuner, and each case comes with an engraved sterling silver plate with the owner's name, model name, serial number, and date of manufacture inside.

Electronics Options

As for electronics, in addition to all the standard electronics options and packages that are model specific, you can also opt to add piezo bridges and saddles with the appropriate control systems for an additional charge. These piezo systems preclude and prevent the use of a Floyd Rose tremolo system.

These are truly custom instruments. No one else gives you the options and selections of AxCalibur Industries.

The AxCalibur

In the Custom Grade, we also introduce our flagship guitar, the AxCalibur. This is a no holds barred instrument that introduces something different to AxCalibur Industries. Unlike the bolt neck instruments offered up to now, the AxCalibur is a neck through body instrument. It is most definitely not an entry level instrument and it is the only AxCalibur Industries instrument where there is no Standard or Deluxe Grade models available, and there never will be. Being in a class of it's own, the AxCalibur will soon have a page of it's own.

Custom Grade instruments run from $4,799.95 to $6,999.95 depending on your woods, inlay, and options. Custom hardwood cases run from $599.00 to $999.00 depending on wood selections.
